Aaaaaaaaaand It's Gone
The streak is over. The Celtics exciting run comes to an end as they lose 104-98 to the Miami Heat. The C's almost pulled it off again, trailing 79-63 heading into the fourth, even tying it up in the fourth. Dion Waiters had a fantastic last couple minutes, hitting two big threes to get some insurance points after the C's fought back into the game. Goran Dragic earned player of the game, scoring 27 points on 7-18 shooting, adding five rebounds and four assists to his stat sheet.
The C's shot an underwhelming 41.9 % from the field, which really cost them. To me, I felt like they were getting good shots and opportunities, but it just wasn't not their night offensively. Kyrie and Tatum had the best performances for the Celtics, as Kyrie tallied 23 points, three rebounds, and a sneaky three steals. Kyrie is 11th in the league in steps per game, at 1.7. Jayson Tatum scored 18 points shooting 5-11 from the field, with seven rebounds and four assists.
This loss obviously is not a big deal for the Celtics, but what is a big deal is how they react. They have not lost in over a month, dating back to the 108-100 loss against Giannis and the Bucks. I am confident that they'll bounce back in a positive manner, as this team has plenty of veteran leadership despite being one of the youngest teams in the NBA. They look to get back on track tonight as they take on the Magic, starting a stretch with six home games out of their next seven. This would be a great win to re-ignite the momentum they had on their impressive run. I feel like this could be a game where Kyrie goes berserk and wills them to a sound victory. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
